A Landmark Collaboration: The City of Kuala Lumpur Signs MoU to Nurture and Enhance Orchestral Music 

On the 12th of June, 2025, the Mayor’s Courtyard came alive with the sound of the orchestra to celebrate a milestone in Kuala Lumpur’s arts and culture scene. A press conference was held to announce a partnership between Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur with Istana Budaya and Dewan Philharmonik Petronas to enrich the city’s orchestral music landscape through joint programming, shared resources, and expanded opportunities for performers and audiences alike.

This event was one of the many highlights of the month-long Festival Orkestra Kuala Lumpur, one of the city’s signature annual events that promises to be even bigger in years to come. Through this collaboration, Kuala Lumpur intends to continue its efforts to create new and exciting cultural  experiences for tourists and residents.

Representatives from participating orchestras added to the occasion’s resonance, reinforcing the strong and vibrant community that underpins Kuala Lumpur’s cultural heartbeat.

Over four enchanting nights, the festival delivered unforgettable performances that brought together local and international talents.

Beyond the concerts, the festival aimed to promote music tourism, support emerging talent, foster creativity, and provide valuable educational opportunities for young musicians and enthusiasts.
